Adding a Third ShockMy 2003 Xtreme pickup did not come with an Anti-hop Damper, better known as a third shock, installed on the rear end. So after some research, I found e-bay had the best price. I bought the shock, forward bracket, and hardware for a couple hundred bucks.
Due to the fact that I bought used parts, I had to clean the parts up and add a coat of spray paint to make them look like new. After a day of cure time, I installed them. Installation was a breeze.
1. Jacked up the rear of the truck
2. Remove the right rear tire
3. Install the Forward Bracket (note: the rear bracket is already welded to rear end housing)
4. Install the shock
5. Re-install tire
The truck is now ready for burnouts and wheel spinning launches. No more wheel hop when trying to lay down some rubber.
